Habits of the Highly Effective Intercessor – Fellowship with the Holy Ghost

Habits of the Highly Effective Intercessor

~ Fellowship With the Holy Ghost ~

.

Keeping your fellowship with the Holy Spirit current is definitely one of the successful habits you’ll want to cultivate as an highly effective Intercessor.

This means not letting anything break or interrupt your fellowship with God! Your relationship with God is constant, once you are born again you are a child of God and that cannot change but your fellowship is changeable, it can be broken and mended again.

If you’re relying on God as your power source and your fellowship with the Holy Spirit is broken then the power of God will be hindered from following through you and you’re not going to be as effective as you can.

Here are some things that affect your fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

1) Active Sin – You cannot live in sin or be actively encouraging sin in your life and expect to still effectively articulate the power of God. Sin will not stop the power of God but it will stop YOU from effectively using that power.

When you sin against God your conscience becomes wounded, and with a wounded conscience it is difficult to demonstrate faith.

You need faith to wield the power of God with effect. Therefore YOUR sin hinders YOU from effectively manifesting the power of God.

2) Rebellion – I’ve listed rebellion separately from active sin because rebellion can take the form of passive sin, which can sometimes be more deadly than active sin in your life.

When we hear the term “active sin” we usually think of fornication, adultery, embezzlement, etc. but rebellion simply means not doing what God told you to do.

For instance, if you haven’t done the last thing God told you to do and it’s past the time to do it – you’re in rebellion.

And if you continue in rebellion it will definitely affect your fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

How can you pray and ask God for such and such when you know that you have not done what He has asked you to do? You cannot approach God with faith knowing that you’re currently violating His will.

Not only this but also when you get into actual aggressive warfare and begin to declare the word of God to principalities, powers and demonic spirits you will find that your words will not have as much effect as they should.

Why?

Because demons are only obligated to obey you to the degree that YOU obey the Lord.

The effectiveness of YOUR word is based on your obedience to GOD’S word.

When you disobey God’s word you are giving demons license to disobey your word.

This is how delegated authority operates!

You can only manifest the power you’re given as long as you obey the source of that power… GOD!

3) Neglecting Tithes and Offering – I’m going to write an entire book on this topic.

Suffice it to say that not paying tithes and giving offerings to God is both active sin and rebellion at the same time.

In fact, we can call it ACTIVE REBELLION AGAINST GOD!

God said, “You are cursed with a curse,” if you neglect tithing and offerings.

Permit me a simple illustration: If you refused to pay taxes to your lawful government what would happen to you after a while?

The authorities would show up at your door, right?

And if you still refused to pay your lawful taxes what would happen then?

You’d experience the full penalty of the law, right?

So tell me something?

Are you, or are you not a citizen of the kingdom of God?

(A kingdom is a type of government) And if you’re a citizen how can you in good conscience enjoy the benefits of the government without paying lawful taxes as a citizen of that government?

Tithes and offerings are taxes we owe as citizens of the most glorious and fair government the universe has ever seen!

Ask yourself this question, “Who doesn’t pay taxes to a lawful government, only criminals and illegal aliens.

Are you one of those? I hope not.

4) Harboring Unforgiveness – Refusing to forgive others is not walking in love and obviously a sinful practice.

Sin hinders your fellowship with the Holy Spirit and keeping your fellowship with the Holy Spirit current is definitely one of the successful habits of being a highly effective Intercessor.

Habits of the Highly Effective Intercessor – Demonstrating Dominion

KLN Header

Habits of the Highly Effective Intercessor

~ Demonstrating Dominion ~

.

There are several successful habits of highly effective Intercessors of which demonstrating dominion is one.

Biblical dominion is defined as the authority and ability that God gave to man in order for him to effectively reign and rule over the earth.

Through Adam’s sin we lost our dominion and through Jesus’ righteousness we have regained it.

But even though we have regained dominion, which is the authority and the ability to rule, we still need to demonstrate that authority and that ability in a very real and practical way on a daily basis.

The following are some topics that are related to demonstrating dominion:

a) The Difference Between Exousia and Dunamis – Lu 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

In the verse above the word “power” is used twice but it’s actually two entirely different Greek words that are being translated.

In the first instance the word is “Exousia” and means “Authority, Mastery, Jurisdiction” in the second instance the word is “Dunamis” and means “Ability, Force, Strength.”

So, Jesus is saying that He has given us authority over all the ability of the devil.

I always hear preachers make a big boast about how we have dunamis and they make a point of stressing that this means dynamite, explosive power. And every time I hear it I say, “So what???”

The devil has the same” dunamis” (dynamite, explosive ability), you see that’s our problem right there! We keep focusing on dunamis and not on exousia, we’re focusing on the ability we have, which the devil also has, instead of the authority we have, of which the devil has NONE!

If we have ability and the devil and his demons have ability then we are evenly matched, right? But if we have the right to control the devil’s ability then who has the upper hand?

Yes! We Do!!! We have the authority – the devil has NONE!

Now when we’re praying, especially as intercessors this is the position from which we pray.

The position of absolute authority under God!

God said, “What you bind (forbid) on earth He will also forbid and what you loose (allow) on earth He will also allow.

That is delegated authority!

Under God we are the lords of the earth not the devil and his agents! But we have got to consistently rise up and declare this to be so. This is the work that we must do in order to walk in dominion upon the earth.

b) Exercising Your Faith Muscle – I’m sure you’ve heard it said a million times before that faith is like a muscle and you’ve got to exercise it to make it grow, well it’s true!

In a practical sense, what you can do to exercise your faith is to make a conscious effort to believe God for something that you have not believed Him for in the past and as you see victory in this area you make the effort to believe Him for something that requires more faith than the last thing you believed for, thereby putting more strain on your faith and forcing it to grow in order to meet the increasing demands.

The principle is exactly the same for those of you that are involved in body building, your muscles will not grow until you place a demand on them that is greater than what they’re accustomed to.

As an example let me ask you this, “How do expect to believe God to cure you of Cancer if every time you get a headache you use Tylenol or Advil?

Practice using your faith to get rid of the headaches and colds so that if something bigger does come you’re more equipped.

c) Overcoming Fear – In the body of Christ, fear seems to be one of the biggest problems that exist! Christians appear to be some of the most fearful creatures on the planet! This subject alone deserves a whole book but let’s see if I can briefly deal with the essential aspects of the matter.

First of all, what is fear? In one context, fear is a legitimate emotion that you feel when faced with the unknown or any potentially dangerous situation.

It is part of an elaborate and complex system, which incorporates the Autonomic nervous system of the human body. In this context fear is a very real and necessary part of our lives and acts as a vital component in the process of self-preservation.

In another context, fear is the term used to refer to the reverential respect that God demands from us and which we offer to Him as our duty.

Heb 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

But there’s a third context in which fear is used, you see unknown to most people fear is also a spirit, a demonic spirit with a mission to cripple and confuse the efforts of God’s people.

He is a living entity and his name is Fear.

God Himself said that He has not given to us the spirit of fear but the spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind. (2 Tim 1:7).

In order to conquer your enemy, you must first understand your enemy! When the spirit of fear attacks you he (by definition) brings with him the emotion of fear!

The difference is that this emotion he brings is not natural but manufactured by that spirit and used as a weapon against you.

In the verse above God said He gave us the spirit of a sound mind, the original word that is translated “sound mind” means, “discipline and self control.”

Discipline is doing the right thing at the right time for the right reason. So when this demon attacks, his purpose is to use fear to disorient and confuse you so that you are not in control of your thoughts and emotions.

But know this, whenever you are not in control of your thoughts and emotions someone else is!

And this is exactly where the devil wants you, you see, demons never attack alone they always come in pairs or groups, so that while you are distracted by the spirit of fear and not in control of your thoughts and emotions the other spirits that came with him now have free course to mentally and emotionally manipulate you and deliver the fatal blow! The one they hope will put you down for the count.

So, your defense is simply to identify the spirit of fear, bind him then willfully overcome the emotion of fear that you feel remembering that it was never real in the first place.

It is a manufactured emotion whose job was to cripple you mentally and emotionally.

As an effective Intercessor, demonstrating dominion means praying from a position of victory and power, from a position of authority over the devil’s ability and getting the job done.

Habits of the Highly Effective Intercessor – Being Filled With the Holy Ghost

KLN Header

Habits of the Highly Effective Intercessor

~ Being Filled With the Holy Ghost ~

.

Being filled with the Holy Ghost is undoubtedly one of the most powerful habits of the highly effective Intercessor.

The Bible says, “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.” Eph. 5:18 (NIV)

I’m told that the original Greek verb which is translated “be filled” is in the present continuous tense, meaning the command “to be filled” really means to keep being filled with the Holy Spirit.

Here are some of the related areas of being continually filled with the Holy Spirit:

1) Receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit – Obviously we’ve got to start at the beginning; you can’t KEEP being filled if you never had the initial experience of becoming filled in the first place!

Since the Holy Spirit was poured out on the day of Pentecost He has never stopped being poured out. He is constantly being poured out so that anyone who has received Jesus Christ as his or her savior can step under that flow and become immediately filled!

Ac 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The bible does NOT require any special waiting or preparation to be filled with the Holy Spirit except that you are a Christian. Receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit is an act of faith that can be experienced anytime, anywhere by anyone who is saved!

It is as simple as asking and receiving! A sample prayer might go something like this:

Dear Father, You said that if I ask you for your Holy Spirit you will give me your Holy Spirit and You cannot lie. Thank you for filling me with your Holy Spirit right now Lord! Holy Spirit, I believe in You and I receive your infilling now in Jesus name. Amen!

This prayer is based partly on the scripture below.

Lk 11:11-14 Which one of you fathers would give your hungry child a snake if the child asked for a fish? Which one of you would give your child a scorpion if the child asked for an egg? As bad as you are, you still know how to give good gifts to your children. But your heavenly Father is even more ready to give the Holy Spirit to anyone who asks. (CEV)

What is most important is what you do next! The scriptures declare in Rom 10:9-10 that you must confess AND believe in order to receive, whether it’s salvation or the baptism of the Holy Spirit the PRINCIPLE remains the same! Confess AND believe!

So during your prayer and after you have finished praying you MUST be and remain in an attitude of faithful expectancy. You must be completely assured that what you have just asked for is being given to you right there and then!

Then you simply open your heart (spirit) and receive it! It is an act of your will! That’s why Jesus asked the lame man “WILL YOU BE HEALED???” Now I’m asking you the same thing, “WILL YOU RECEIVE THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT???” It’s up to YOU – Will you or won’t you receive?

Ac 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. Ac 19:2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?

The emphasis is always on YOU receiving NOT on God giving the Holy Spirit!

The Holy Spirit was given once 2,000 years ago and He was never taken back – So it’s up to you to receive!

2) Praying with Tongues – The ability to pray in tongues is the initial evidence that manifests when you first become filled with the Holy Spirit! There are many other manifestations of being filled with the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues is just the first one that usually shows up!

There are nine gifts of the Spirit in total and each of them is a manifestation of the Spirit.

The ability to pray with tongues is given to everyone who is filled with the Holy Spirit, some people may be filled and not speak in tongues simply because they were never properly instructed as to how they should go about it.

You will find that there is a lot of controversy about praying in tongues largely because a lot of people misunderstand this ability. And on a deeper level because the enemy is threatened by anyone who does, so he stirs up Christians to waste time arguing over this issue instead of coming together in order to wage a united campaign against him!

Know this about the devil: He attacks anything he fears!

Has he been relentlessly attacking you? Well, now you know why! My point is, however, that he has been attacking the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the charismatic gifts from day one… literally! The first Christians to be filled with the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues on the day of Pentecost were accused of being drunkards and the attack hasn’t stopped since!

Praying in tongues is a means to activating the nine gifts of the Spirit and stimulating your spiritual senses to flow more powerfully and accurately.

Praying in tongues is the act of one intelligent spirit (Yours) speaking directly to another intelligent Spirit (God) without the need for any mental interpretation… THAT’S ALL!

3) Walking in Love – This is the most important manifestation of being filled with the Holy Spirit! People generally don’t care if you can speak with tongues or prophecy! But they will take notice if you show them that you care about them as a person.

They will be impressed if you sacrifice something important to you in order to bless a stranger – that’s true love! And that’s the most striking evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit of God! It’s called character and it stands out!

It is said that more souls are won to the Lord by selfless displays of love than by many sermons preached.

So, there we have it, being filled with the Holy Ghost allows the power of God to flow through you in a more concentrated and focused fashion giving you the ability to have a far greater impact and effect in the spirit realm.

And this is what being a highly effective Intercessor is all about – Being able to impact and affect the spirit realm to the extent that we see the manifest results in the physical realm. More power to you!

Habits of the Highly Effective Intercessor – Prayer & Worship

prayinghandstrans

There are several successful habits of the highly effective Intercessor.
It goes without saying that if you intend on being an effective intercessor you must cultivate a lifestyle of prayer and worship.
The following are some of the things that will help you cultivate such a lifestyle.

.

1) A Time and Place to Pray – Having a special time and place to pray speaks about your discipline and consistency in meeting with God. It shows that you honor God and are committed to building your fellowship with the Holy Spirit!
Also, we are creatures of habit and when you meet with God regularly your spirit actually begins to anticipate the meeting and prepares itself for that meeting.
As your regular prayer session draws near your spirit literally begins to prepare to meet with God and to receive all that He has to share with you. This is what faith is all about it’s about being in an atmosphere of total expectancy, ready and waiting to receive from God!
This one activity alone will help tremendously in allowing you to explode with the power of God when you begin to pray.

.

2) A Habit of Praising God – I am continually amazed every Sunday morning in church, witnessing how it’s possible for Christians to be in the manifest presence of God and not be moved to physically respond to Him.
I am even more amazed at how some of these same people will cheer at a football game or weep at the movies while defending their not praising God by saying they’re not very emotional or expressive.
First of all lets clear up one myth. You do not have to be very emotional or expressive to openly praise God! Praising God is primarily an act of your will – you choose to praise Him! Whether you feel to or not, you make a decision and then carry it out!
Here’s some information that will facilitate a habit of praising God.
There are (7) seven ascensions or steps of praise leading up to the experience of worship! Each step typifies a different kind of praise or a different action in praise and is identified by a different Hebrew word.

.

Towdah:

The first step of praise is identified by the word “Towdah” and it means “To lift your hands as a sacrifice of thanksgiving.” Right here is where most people fail “Praise School” they go through the entire church service waiting on a feeling to praise God that never comes.
In the Old Testament the priest were actually taught how to praise God and the first thing that they were taught was how to “Towdah” how to give SACRIFICIAL PRAISE!
That means praising God when you don’t FEEL like it, ESPECIALLY when you don’t feel like it! This is the first ascension of praise on the way to experiencing worship!
Ps 50:23 Whoso offereth praise (towdah) glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.
 .

Yadah:

The second step of praise is called “Yadah” and means “To throw up your hands intensively in reverence.” The meaning is almost the same as “Towdah” the main difference is shown by the word ‘intensively.’
What this says is that it’s no longer a sacrifice to raise your hands but now it’s a joy to do so. In other words, it’s same action but with a different attitude!
Ps 107:15 Oh that men would praise (yadah) the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men.

.

Halal:

The third step is identified by the word “Halal” and it means, “to boast, to rave, to celebrate, to be clamorously foolish.” To put you more into the picture lets get the meaning of some of these words.
The word “rave” means, “to speak out wildly, to talk with extreme enthusiasm, to move or advance violently,” the word “clamorous” means, “noisily insistent” so when you see Sis. ‘X’ running around the pews in the church or Bro. ‘Y’ jumping up and down at the back they’re simply manifesting the third ascension of praise, which is called “Halal.”
Ps 150:1 Praise (halal) the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; Praise him in his mighty expanse. Ps 149:3 Let them praise (halal) his name in the dance…

.

Shabach:

The fourth ascension of praise is characterized by the word “Shabach” and means, “to shout, to address in a loud tone, to command, to triumph.” This is what the army of Israel did to tear down the walls of Jericho, they were commanded to “Shabach!”
This is what you need to do sometimes when you’ve tried everything else and nothing seems to work for you. You need to SHOUT!
“Shabaching” is really cheering on the host of heaven to work on your behalf to bring to pass the things you have been praying about all along! And this shouldn’t be anything strange to us; we do it in the natural all the time when we cheer on our favorite team to win the championship or our favorite player to score that vital point! Now we need to do it for Jesus – and for ourselves!
Ps 145:4 One generation shall praise (shabach) thy works to another and declare thy mighty acts.

.

Zamar:

The fifth dimension of praise is called “Zamar” and means, “to play upon a musical instrument, to celebrate in song and music, to sing praises.”
This is particularly interesting to me because it’s not until we reach the fifth ascension of praise that we see music being introduced to the act of praise. Yet some people act as though you can’t praise God without music!
The fact is, it’s the actual offering of the person playing the musical instrument that makes the sounds or melodies acceptable praises to God! Not the actual sounds or melodies in and of themselves.
The act of praising God is supposed to originate from within the person and manifested through the skillful playing of the instrument! But it’s what comes from within the person that is really accepted by God, not so much the external sounds or melodies being played. He accepts the music because of WHO is making it and what that person’s motive and attitude is at the time.
Ps. 57:8-9 Awake my glory; awake harp and lyre, I will awaken the dawn! I will give thanks to Thee, O Lord among the peoples; I will sing praises (zamar) to Thee among the nations.

.

Barak:

The sixth area of praise is none other than “Barak,” which means, “to kneel down, to bless God as an act of adoration.” This where we begin to get silent before the lord and nothing else seems to matter, the world around us disappears and everyone else ceases to exist. We are caught up in His presence and He alone matters at that time! This is where our body, soul and spirit are being prepared for the final dimension of praise!
Ps 34:1 I will bless (barak) the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

.

Tehillah:

Number seven is “Tehillah” which means “song of the spirit,” it comes from a root word meaning, “to shine with the favor of God.” So in other words “Tehillah” is the realm of praise where God begins to respond to the attention that you have been showing Him all along.
“Tehillah” is the seventh and final ascension of praise where you begin to enter into worship!
Praise is you giving something to God – Worship is God giving something to you in response! Praise is you wooing God – Worship is God responding to your courtship!
I call praise and worship spiritual intercourse. Don’t you Christians confess that Jesus is the sweet lover of your soul? Well, what do you mean by that? I’m simply giving you the explanation for what you already feel inside and know to be true.
“Tehillah” is the experience of rapturous spiritual love making between you and your Lord Jesus, which is what the act of worship really is!
Ps 22:3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises (tehillah) of Israel.
Isa 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise (tehillah) for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
Praise and worship draws you closer to God. It is in the atmosphere of worship where your spirit is open to receive revelation from God. Revelation from God makes for accurate and powerful intercessory prayer.
A lifestyle of prayer and worship helps you to become a highly effective Intercessor.
