10 Reasons Why A Born Again Christian Cannot Lose Their Salvation

10 Reasons Why You Cannot Lose Your Salvation

For the purpose of this discussion a Christian is someone who has believed the Gospel of Jesus Christ, (Acts 16:31) repented (Acts 17:30) and has been justified by God, (1 Corinthians 6:11) regenerated by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5) and translated into the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:13).

By the way, there is no other type of Christian… THIS IS what becoming a Christian means.

If you cannot say the description above applies to you … THEN YOU ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN.

If the description above applies to you then here are 10 reasons why you cannot lose nor give up your salvation.

1. Jesus said His Sheep Shall Never Perish and He Cannot Lie

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish…” John 10:27-28

(This one reason should be enough to end the entire discussion)

2. No One is Greater Than God the Father and it is He Who Keeps Us Saved

In John 10:27-29 Jesus said, His Father is greater than all and no man is able to pluck them out of His Father’s hand.

Therefore, if I can pluck myself out of the Father’s hand then I am greater than the Father… and that’s impossible!

3. Jesus Cannot Pray Amiss and He Prayed For Our Salvation

John Chapter 17 is a prayer Jesus prayed to the Father for all Christians.

In verse 9 He said, “My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you.”
In verse 20 He said, “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message.”
In verse 11 He said, “Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me.”
In verse 17 He said, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
In verse 21 He said, “I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one — as you are in me, Father, and I am in you.”
In verse 24 He said, “Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am.”

Jesus was sinlessly perfect in every way so it is impossible for Him to ever pray amiss, meaning, His prayer must be answered by God.

In John 17 He prayed:

a. That God keep us
b. That God sanctify us
c. That we be one with Him and the Father
d. That we be where He is

Did Jesus pray amiss or did God answer His prayers?

If Jesus prayed amiss then He is NOT God and nobody is saved.

If He prayed in faith then God answered His prayers which means:

a. All Christians are kept by God
b. All Christians are sanctified by God
c. All Christians will be one with God
d. All Christians will be where Jesus is

In short, no Christian can lose their salvation because Jesus has prayed for us and God has answered His prayers.

If God the Son is praying to God the Father, then of course His prayers are going to be answered… And He prayed, “Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am.” John 17:24

4. Christians Are Kept by the Power of God

According to 1 Peter 1:5 Christians are kept by the power of God, (NOT by their own power) therefore, if a Christian ever lost his salvation that means… GOD FAILED!

You might be tempted to reason that the verse said, we are kept “through faith” so if we don’t have faith we can still lose our salvation but according to Ephesians 2:8-9 saving faith is a gift given to us, not something we acquire by our own effort.

5. When You Got Saved You Were Forgiven for ALL Your sins, (Past, Present and Future)

Jesus Christ is the Author of eternal salvation. Hebrews 5:9

God inhabits eternity. Isaiah 57:15

The past, the present and the future relate to the passage of Time but God lives outside of Time in the realm of Eternity, this means, for God there is no past, present or future… everything is always present with Him.

Therefore, the human concept that you can be forgiven for past sins but not for future sins is meaningless with God.

With God you are either forgiven or NOT forgiven… There is no past, present or future with respect to your salvation.

You are either eternally lost or eternally saved.

6. Jesus is the Author and Finisher of Our Faith. Hebrews 12:2

The word translated “Author” is the Greek word “Archegos” and also means Captain or Prince.

It is used exclusively for Jesus Christ 4 times in the entire Bible.

The word translated “Finisher” is the Greek word “Teleiotes” also translated as Perfector and means, “One who has raised faith to its perfection.”

This word is used just once in the entire Bible describing what Jesus has done for our salvation.

We therefore, have in Jesus Christ someone who has raised faith to the level of PERFECTION, and whose faith does the Bible say He has perfected… OUR FAITH!

So, when you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior you are not just forgiven and then left to maintain your salvation for yourself. That would be ridiculous.

Jesus saves you with perfect faith, ensuring that it can never fail, so you can never be lost.

7. The Same Reason You Cannot Work for Your Salvation is the Same Reason You Cannot Lose Your Salvation

Becoming a Christian means having your inner nature changed and you cannot change your nature for yourself. 2 Peter 1:4

If you ask any Christian, “Can you save yourself?” The answer is going to be, “No!”

But most Christians never pursue that line of reasoning to it’s natural conclusion.

Let’s ask and answer those questions and see what we get:

Q. Why can’t you save yourself?

A. I can’t save myself because I don’t have the power to change my inner nature by my actions. Ephesians 2:8-9

Becoming born again means allowing God to transform my inner nature through the regeneration of my spirit. Titus 3:5

This is something completely out of my control. It’s a miraculous process that God does all by Himself without my input. I simply step back in faith and allow Him to create that miracle within me. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Q. So, you’re saying that you cannot change your inner nature?

A. No, I cannot.

Q. And why not?

A. Because God did not give me the authority nor the ability to transform my own inner nature. He reserved that right for Himself alone.

Q. So, if God did not give you the authority nor the ability to change your nature from unsaved to saved, from where did you get the authority and ability to change it from saved back to to unsaved?

8. The Lord said, he will never leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5

The word “Leave” translated from the Greek “Aniemi” means, to send back, to give up, not to uphold, to let sink

The word “Forsake” translated from the Greek “egkataleipo” means, to abandon, desert, leave in straits, leave helpless, to leave behind.

The word “Never” is translated from the Greek “Ou Me” it is a double negative and means, certainly not, not at all, by no means.

If you’re a Christian, God says to you, He will certainly not, not at all, by no means, send you back, give you up, fail to uphold you, nor let you sink and He will not abandon, desert, leave you in straits, leave you helpless, nor leave you behind.

The only question you need to ask yourself is… Did He lie???

9. God has Promised to Complete the Good Work He Started in You

The Bible says, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” (Philippians 1:6)

The phrase “Until the Day” translated from the Greek word “Hemera” means, “Until the last day of this present age, the day Christ will return from heaven, raise the dead, hold the final judgment and perfect his kingdom.

The phrase “Will Perform” translated from the Greek word “Epiteleo” means, to bring to an end, accomplish, perfect, execute, complete, to take upon one’s self, to make an end for one’s self.

So Philippians 1:6 is saying, until the last day of this present age, the day Christ will return from heaven, raise the dead, hold the final judgment and perfect his kingdom He will take it upon Himself to bring to an end, accomplish, perfect, execute and complete the good work of salvation He begun in you.

Does that sound like Jesus is leaving your salvation in anybody’s hands but His and His Father’s???

10. God’s Gift of Righteousness Means… The Sinless Perfection of God

One of the reasons some Christians don’t accept the assurance of salvation is because they don’t fully understand the concept of righteousness.

We keep saying that righteousness is a free gift that God gives us and without this free gift of righteousness we cannot enter heaven.

But what does “Righteousness” actually mean?

It means, “Sinless Perfection.”

The truth is, nobody can enter heaven unless they are as perfect as God.

“I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.” Genesis 17:1

“Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Matthew 5:38

So, when a misinformed Christian thinks they can somehow guarantee entrance into heaven by how they live their lives on earth… they are sadly mistaken.

No one gets into heaven without being as perfect as God.

No sin can enter heaven!

Do you understand what that means?

Only God is sinlessly perfect, therefore, being declared righteous means you now have the sinless perfection of God, because righteousness is the standard of God’s perfection.

This is what the gift of righteousness is… it is being given the sinless perfection of God as a gift.

God’s righteousness is completely and irrevocably a free gift given to you, based on the mercy and grace of Almighty God… nothing else!

For God so loved you that He gave the life of His dearly beloved Son to redeem you from judgment and translate you into the Kingdom of His Son.

You cannot add to, nor subtract from this gift in any way.

You simply take it or leave it… that is what gives God all the glory in saving you.

Thinking you can add to God’s free gift of salvation in any way is pride in it’s purest form, because salvation is the perfection of God given to you as a free gift.

How can you in any way add to the perfection of God???

In conclusion:

The certainty of salvation IS the Gospel. It’s the assurance that makes it Good News!

If salvation is NOT sure but you can still lose your salvation and end up in HELL… How in the world is that good news???

Who rejoices over a 50/50 chance of going to hell?

The Assurance of Salvation:

Membership Has it’s Privileges

eternallife

Can a born again Christian lose his/her salvation and go to hell?
How secure is salvation through Jesus Christ?
We tell people they need to be saved in order to miss out on hell and go to heaven but how sure is this promise of safety?
How permanent is Christian salvation?
The Bible says, “And being made perfect, he (Jesus Christ) became the author of eternal salvation,” Heb 5:9.
The Bible says salvation is eternal!
Do you know what eternal means? It means without beginning or ending.
Your salvation has no beginning and it has no ending.
Christian Salvation CANNOT end!
Time began with the creation of the world and the bible says, “…He hath chosen us in him before the foundation (creation) of the world,” Eph 1:4.
The average Christian thinks they “got saved” when they said the Sinner’s Prayer and received Jesus into their heart, but your salvation actually began long before that.
When you received Jesus, all you did was activate the experience of Christian Salvation in your life and began to enjoy the benefits, but in reality you were saved the moment God said that you were saved, which was in eternity before time began!
Let me illustrate this point for you:

The Most Exclusive Spa

Imagine a Spa, the most expensive, exclusive Spa in the whole world.
It’s got all the amenities you can think of; Sauna, Tanning Salon, Personal Masseuse, Health Food Bar, all the most modern exercise equipment you can name, this Spa has it all, however, the lifetime membership fee is one million dollars.
Fortunately I’m rich, so I buy my wife a lifelong membership to this Spa and give her the key to her own private entrance but she never goes to the Spa and uses it.
Is she a bona fide member of the Spa? Yes, her membership fee is fully paid for!

Is her name recorded in the Membership Roster? Yes, her name is written in the Book!
But has she ever experienced the Spa? No!
Has she ever enjoyed the benefits of the Spa? No!
Why not?
She never used her key to activate her membership! She never walked through the door and used the facilities.
God has purposed many people to experience salvation – They’re saved – Their membership fee has already been fully paid for – But they will never experience salvation until they use the key to activate their membership!

The Key and The Door

Faith is the key that unlocks the door to their salvation.
“The just shall live by faith,” Rom. 1:17
What’s the door? Jesus said, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved…,” John 10:9
Confessing your faith in Jesus Christ is using your key to unlock the door to your salvation.
Faith is the Key – Jesus is the Door!
When someone receives salvation today they are simply using their faith/key to activate their salvation/membership but they actually became a member when their membership fee was paid.
When was their fee paid? When exactly did Jesus die to pay for your sin?
The bible says Jesus is, “…The Lamb who was killed BEFORE the world was made,” Rev. 13:8. (NLT)
There are things that happen in time, in the natural realm that are merely reflections of what has already taken place in eternity, in the spiritual realm!
The spirit realm is more real than the physical realm in which we live.

The Authority to Start and Stop

Continuing with our Spa analogy, your salvation/membership began before the world was made, before time existed, in the realm of the eternal, but you only activated your salvation/membership when you heard the good news about the benefits of salvation/membership.
However, the DECISION to start your salvation/membership WAS NOT YOURS; this was decided by SOMEONE ELSE who had the power to start it.
The ONLY PERSON who can start or stop your salvation/membership is The One who paid the membership fee!
He started it, therefore only He can stop it!
He paid the membership fee so you’re IN, if He withdraws the membership fee you’re OUT!
And He can’t do that, “For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn,” Rom. 11:29 (NLT)
Salvation is a gift; therefore, the word of God prohibits God from ever taking it back.
God decided to save you BEFORE He created you!
The decision to start your salvation was not yours.
God paid for that with the precious life of His own Son, He NEVER gave you the authority to start or stop your membership; He retains full control over that.
The only control you have is how soon you start experiencing the benefits of salvation and what sort of member you’re going to become.
Are you going to become a nominal member, just having your name on the roster or one who participates fully and becomes an exemplary member, reading and studying the “Club’s Instruction Manual,” attending all the “Membership Meetings,” maybe even excelling to the point of becoming an “Instructor” yourself, mentoring younger members as they join “The Club?”
Salvation is eternal, it has no beginning in reference to time as we know it, therefore it has no ending either.
Christian salvation is eternal and cannot end – Therefore it is permanent and cannot be lost.
Jesus said, “My sheep know my voice, and I know them. They follow me, and I give them eternal life, so that they will never be lost. No one can snatch them out of my hand.
My Father gave them to me, and he is greater than all others. No one can snatch them from his hands.” John 10:27-29 (Bold Type & Italics Mine)
After you’re saved the Holy Spirit keeps you and your salvation safe from the inside, then you and your salvation are kept safe in Jesus’ hands which are kept safe in God the Father’s hands, who Jesus said IS GREATER THAN ALL… Explain to me again how you can lose your salvation?
